Jed’s “Rock and Roll” barbershop is more like a art gallery, music venue that also happens to offer great haircuts and color for prices less than typical salons.

“We want to appeal to men and women who would like to get a salon quality haircut for not much more than you would pay at Top Cut,” says Own Jed Beal. Beal commissioned local artists to design the mural with images of Bob Dillan, Johnny Cash and Mic Jagger. He and his wife Nicole collected a huge number of records to fill the walls with classic albums.

Jed’s plays classic rock and roll hits over the sound system to add to the ambiance. Every two weeks Jed’s holds an informal event featuring live music and works by local artists. While the concept is totally new for Utah there are similar barbershops to Jed’s open in Denver and California.

I aspire to build Utah Stories Magazine into a household Utah name, and assist Utah businesses and makers with marketing. On the journalism side of things my passion is investigative journalism that offers true insight into issues. I believe strongly in the forth estate: strong, meaningful, insightful journalism is essential to a free market Democracy.
