Beerhive

Business Background:

Vance has been involved in Utah's beer industry for 15 years: Uinta brewery, The Bayou, and recently writing "Beer in the Beehive: A History of Beer in Utah."

Why Main Street?

Owner Del Vance wanted to capitalize on new foot traffic generated by the City Creek Center project.

Niche on Main Street?

Beerhive Pub offers over 100 beers and is the closest bar in proximity to the City Creek Center, which should be completed in 2012.

Three years ago Del Vance began his work finding a site for the next great Utah bar.

He had two requirements in mind: proximity to the completed City Creek Center and a unique space. He found both in a former FedEx office in a blighted part of Main Street that was mostly occupied by non-profit organizations working to promote investment in downtown SLC.

Vance saw great potential in the Sarah Daft home (originally built in 1889) and worked on renovating it. The result was Beerhive Pub, the closest bar in proximity to the City Creek Center.

Beerhive Pub incredibly offers more than 100 beers on tap and in the bottle--all handpicked by owner Vance.
