According to figures provided to the Deseret News by the Bureau of Criminal Identification, a staggering 10,878 concealed firearms permits were sought in March. Compare that to the 4,412 that were sought in March 2008. In February 2008, 2,548 people sought concealed-carry permits; the number jumped to 8,142 in 2009.Deseret News

The photo from this story is what I found interesting--a woman agresively pointing a gun while a very pleased man stands next to her. A more interesting statistic could have been how many of these new concealed weapons carriers are women? Or better yet, women to drive mini-vans who are addicted to SSRIs who could have aggresive tendencies? The next time I get a crusty glare from a woman who is annoyed with me riding my bike on the street, I'll will think twice before glaring back.

BTW to all the ladies in their mini vans who are talking on their cell phones and don't see me: biking on Utah steets is legal and much more safe than biking on sidewalks. Please watch for cyclists.
