Twitter.

It's a weird word, really. But then, so is Wienerschnitzel. And that place seems pretty popular.

The truth is, Twitter is just weird enough to work. And work it does. It has quickly become one of the hottest social networking platforms around.

Oh, that's enough explanatory mumbo-jumbo. Enjoy the list:

Utah's Top 10 Tweeple

1) Heather Almighty: @dooce

Heather B. Armstrong is the Queen B of the Utah blogging world. Her famous blog, Dooce, has ascended to such heights in the global blogosphere that it's hard for Utah to claim her as our own. Nobody can match her reach or influence. NOBODY!

2) The Cool Kid: @jordanbrown

Of all the Utah tweeple I've come across, I think this guy plays the game the best. He's friendly, helpful, and because of that, he's amassed a fairly large Twitter following. Homeboy's just a good guy, and it shows.

3) The Princess: Kelly King Anderson: @startupprincess

She's probably one of the most powerful because of her loyal following of entrepreneurially minded women. She's also been using Twitter long enough that she has some serious connections outside Utah.

4) The Magician: Pete Codella: @codella

This dude doesn't really have a huge Twitter following. But he's got something else. Sway. As the program director of the Social Media Club of Salt Lake City, Codella is in position to make some magic happen. How aggressive will he be?

5) The Media Man: Glen Warchol: @gwarchol

As a popular blogger for The Salt Lake Tribune, Glen gets respect. His following is poised to grow.

6) The Comic: Sarah Nielson: @sarahbellum

Her tweets are consistently the funniest. Not always politically correct, perhaps. But hilarious, nonetheless.

7) The Friendly One: Lisa Marie: @flawless326

Flawless is one of the most approachable Utah tweeps. She can be loud and outspoken at times, but she's really cool once you get to know her.

8) The Wasatch Woman: @pam_baumeister

Women are a powerful force on the Internet and social media. As the editor of Wasatch Woman Magazine, Pam carries a lot of weight in the Utah Twitterverse.

9) The Go-Getters: Utah Business Magazine: @utahbusiness

I give these guys credit for being pretty active. I think they have used Twitter more effectively than some of the bigger names in Utah media.

10) The Hungry One: Holly Hanks: @phemom

Holly is my sleeper pick to round out this list. While her Twitter following is not yet huge, I consider her a future force. Here's why: The girl's heavily involved in the Utah food blogging scene, which is one of the most active blogging communities in the state.

You missed me! @Newspapergrl I tweet about online marketing, online PR and social media. I have almost 5,000 followers and have been tweeting for more than a year. I'm friends with several people on the list. @Jesse is another very popular tweeter in Utah

I hate to differ, but Utah Business hasn't updated their Twitter feed in 3 weeks.
